Is a written employment contract required in Pakistan?
Quick answer
A written appointment letter or employment contract is strongly advised and, under many provincial labour laws, effectively required, because it is your primary protection in any dispute over salary, duties, notice, or termination. It should set out the role, compensation, hours, leave, confidentiality, and notice period, and align with the labour law of the province where the employee works.
